Community Herbalist Skills Program - 2025 - 9 months, 9 Full Saturdays 9-5
Online resources, handouts, formulas and recipes, plant walks and medicine making
In person 9 month workshop with plant and tree ID walk every meeting, weather permitting - this will not be over rough terrain but may include mud, insects, and hot weather so dress accordingly
You will build your own herbal apothecary
Online technical handouts for teaching skills, charts, resources, access to video library
Limited class size allows for interactive hands-on learning
Grow your knowledge and first hand experience of our local herbal medicines and foods - including actions, energetics, safety, harvesting, preserving and safety
Learn to grow and forage food and medicinal herbs - visit gardens, plant herb seeds and root cuttings
Learn local mushroom identification for harvesting food and making medicines
Practice doing intake notes and applying assessment skills, constitutions, reading test results, notes and questions - whether you work with family, friends or wider community - so when anyone asks you for herbal advice you know where to begin
Understanding safe and effective dosage of herbs
Creating herbal formulas for specific conditions - herbal tea or tinctures or topicals - including Triunes
Sustainable harvesting and processing of bark, seeds, leaves, berries
Making medicine including syrups, alcohol tinctures, vinegars, oxymels, glycerins, salves, oils, lotions and more!
Hydrosols anyone can make at home - No large copper kettle required
Herbal first aid - make your own home and travel kits
Supervised practice decision making around timelines, herbs for supporting common conditions and making effective delivery systems and formulas
Safety and legal priorities for all herbal work / how to build your herbal business
Growing healthy gardens for food and medicine in our region and climate, all year!
Herbal medicine in the kitchen and the grocery store
Economic, emotional and cultural realities
Alcohol-free options, basic nutritional training, flower remedies
Foundations of Traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic herbal medicine
Flower/vibrational remedies, elixirs, lotions, creams
Herbal medicinal and nutritional support for canines
Personal herbal protocol
Visiting guest herbalists and farmers to be announced soon
All supplies will be provided for making products in classes
You will be expected to complete an herbal project
